Maryam was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. Since early childhood, it had always been her dream to become a fashion designer. Her passion began when she was just five years old. Whenever Maryam saw her mother or grandmother creating something new on their sewing machine, she was so excited to watch them. So, whenever they were not at home, she started to experiment with the sewing machine and even injured her finger with a needle a few times.
When Maryam was 13 years old, she started to take private lessons from a designer and her love for the art of creating fashion design began to blossom. At the age of 22, she enrolled in a program in Fashion Design at the University of Tehran. After moving to Canada about 15 years ago, she successfully completed a diploma in dressmaking and fashion design with the highest honour from ICS Montreal. She also gained 13 years experience as a set costumer and dressmaker through the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). Maryam continues to work on film productions in Vancouver on a regular basis.
In 2003, Maryam achieved her big dream which never would have been possible in Iran where women are not allowed to wear colourful and beautiful clothing in public. They are forced to hide and keep their beauty private. When she landed in Canada and was greeted by the vibrant colours of nature, she wanted to express her creativity through colourful and happy designs which are a noticeable characteristic of her design style. She opened her own fashion store and design studio where she could follow her passion and create one-of-a-kind fashion designs.
Although she's learned everything she needs to know about making patterns and the standards of sewing, she enjoys challenging herself and tapping into her wild imagination. Each of her creations is unique and suitable for many different personalities, ages and sizes. She is confident that there is something for everyone in her store. The best part... is that she still has her sweet mom, her original inspiration, by her side.
As Maryam thrives from creating beautiful unique designs, she endeavours to keep learning and creating. She recently graduated with Honours with a Blanche MacDonald Fashion + Design Diploma. The Graduation ceremony along with a fashion show featuring all her latest designs will take place in November 2016.
